About
San Diego native Gibran Fernandez opened Mr. Moto Pizza in Pacific Beach in 2015, bringing authentic New York-style pizza to the West Coast with a twist. After learning the trade at his uncle's Pizza On Pearl in La Jolla, Gibran launched this family-owned pizzeria that won San Diego's Best Gourmet Pizza just one year later. The thin-crust pies feature a remarkably fluffy, chewy outer edge—what New Yorkers call the "handle"—and signature combinations like the Mr. Moto with Italian sausage, Spanish chorizo, burrata, and chunky tomato dots on garlic paste. The restaurant became famous for introducing stuffed garlic knots with a croissant-like shape: soft inside, crispy outside. The casual, hip atmosphere includes a dog-friendly outdoor patio perfect for Pacific Beach's beach-day vibe.
