Nolita Hall
About
Douglas Hamm opened Nolita Hall in 2018, naming it after New York City's "North of Little Italy" neighborhood and channeling European beer hall culture updated for the 21st century. His Black Swan Hospitality flagship won immediate recognition: an Orchid Award for the stunning Tecture Design interior, a Michelin Bib Gourmand rating, architecture awards from the San Diego Architectural Foundation, and placement among the city's hottest restaurants every month since opening. The 6,000-square-foot glass-walled space features floor-to-ceiling windows, a 60-foot skylight, exposed wood ceiling beams, urban jungle greenery, a U-shaped bar pouring 20+ craft beer taps, and two 165-inch projector screens plus five more TVs for sports from the Kentucky Derby to the World Cup. The Fiori wood-fired oven turns out Italian-style pizzas—Hot Honey with ricotta and pepperoni; Quattro Formaggi; Margherita—alongside charcuterie boards ($52), truffle fries with parmesan and chives, wood-fired Brussels with pancetta, and contemporary Italian dishes like vodka pasta. Craft cocktails curated with integrity, wines from California and Italy selected by their in-house sommelier, shuffleboard, communal seating, and happy hour 4-6pm with half-off drinks make Nolita the modern beer hall Little Italy needed.
