From a small fishing village in Aspra, Sicily, the Vitale family journeyed first to Buffalo, New York, then to San Diego, where Anthony, Vincent, cousin Mike, and David opened Pazzo's Pizza in November 1993. Three decades later, their Scripps Ranch institution still makes everything the way their grandparents Antonio and Antonina taught them: homemade breads, pizza dough, and sauces prepared fresh daily from recipes that crossed an ocean and never compromised. Those strong Sicilian roots inform every pie, every decision, every ingredient sourced and prepared with the understanding that food is family. Their recent expansion into Ocean Beach proves what locals have known for thirty years—pizza this authentic, this connected to heritage and tradition, deserves to feed more neighborhoods.
