Luigi Agostini opened his Golden Hill pizzeria in 2004 with a simple mission: serve authentic New York-style pizza the way it should be. Then Guy Fieri showed up in Fall 2008, declared it the best pizza in all of California on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, and everything changed. Lines stretched down the block. Fieri returned in 2013āthis time to create the infamous El Diablo: pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, onions, jalapeƱos, crushed red peppers, sriracha, and hot sauce piled onto that classic thin, foldable crust. Today, Pizzeria Luigi operates four locations across San Diego, each keeping that counter-service, cash-only vibe with over a dozen craft beers on tap.
