Sorrento Ristorante
About
Antonino Mastellone launched Sorrento Ristorante in 2015 on the former La Villa site, bringing another member of the Mastellone family restaurant group to Little Italy alongside Buon Appetito, Arrivederci, Piacere Mio, Au Revoir Bistro, and Solunto. The mission: revive the culture and gastronomy of Sorrento, Italy, in a cozy modern bistro where warm brown tones, tiny hanging bulbs, and a decorated ceiling create romantic intimacy inside, while the outdoor patio—centered around a fountain and equipped with heaters—captures San Diego nights. Travelers' Choice recognition from TripAdvisor confirmed what locals knew: this was authentic regional Italian done right. Fresh-cut octopus carpaccio, sautéed clams and mussels in garlicky cherry tomato sauce, cannelloni au gratin with smoked mozzarella, homemade buttery provolone ravioli, lobster ravioli reviewers call "exceptional," traditional veal piccata in lemon-caper sauce. Gourmet thin-crust pizzas emerge from the oven with airy crusts; tiramisu al limoncello swaps espresso for refreshing citrus. Italian wines from a rich selection, Chianti flowing, big bar action inside. Fast service, generous portions, atmosphere that transports straight to Campania. Established 2015. Simple food philosophy: revive, honor, deliver.
