Ambrogio15 Pacific Beach
About
When the San Diego Union-Tribune crowned Ambrogio15 the best pizza in the county in 2020, they weren't exaggerating. Milan natives Giacomo Pizzigoni and Andrea Burrone opened this Pacific Beach pizzeria in August 2016 with one mission: elevate pizza from fast food to refined dining. The name honors Archbishop Ambrogio, patron saint of Milan, while the "15" represents the diameter of their signature paper-thin Milanese pies. Behind the open kitchen, a massive Marana Forni oven imported from Italy reaches 700 degrees, churning out pizzas made with organic flour and a patented 48-hour fermentation process. Their Prosciutto Crudo e Burrata—topped with 20-month aged Parma ham and imported Puglian burrata—earned "best pie in San Diego" honors for good reason. The cocktail program, designed by Marco Russo of Milan's famed Bar 1930, pairs perfectly with Chef Silvio Salmoiraghi's menu. Cozy murals, outdoor patio seating, and that unmistakable Milano energy make this the real deal.
