About
Flavio Piromallo left Naples for San Diego, spending over a decade at Little Italy spots like Buon Appetito and Civico 1845, before opening Siamo Napoli ("We Are Naples") in North Park in 2019 with family member Giovanni Piromallo. The former Il Postino space got an industrial-chic makeover—concrete floors, exposed pipes, a massive Sophia Loren photograph—and a wood-fired Neapolitan oven that cooks pies in 60 to 90 seconds at temperatures between 430-480°C. Michelin Guide recognized them with one knife-and-fork symbol for their relaxed atmosphere and authentic Southern Italian cooking, praising it as "some of the best Neapolitan pizzas in town" with ratings hitting 4.9 on Tripadvisor and 4.8 on OpenTable. The Margherita follows tradition—San Marzano pomodoro, fresh mozzarella, basil, extra virgin olive oil—while the Sausage & Rapini showcases house-made fennel sausage. Happy hour runs daily 4-6pm (plus 9-11pm Friday-Saturday) with $5 wines and discounts on three pizzas. Handmade pastas include lobster ravioli and ravioli con manzana, tiramisu comes made in-house, and the patio lets you soak up North Park while Giovanni and Flavio work the room.
