Tribute Pizza
About
Matthew Lyons launched Tribute Pizza as a pop-up on Pi Day 2013, before opening this brick-and-mortar in a converted 1951 Art Deco post office in North Park. The space retains original signage and barrel-vault ceilings with exposed steel trusses. Lyons trained under legendary pizza chef Chris Bianco and spent eight months in Nairobi before perfecting what he calls "Neo-Neapolitan"—a hybrid of New York and Neapolitan techniques baked in a 1,500-pound Renato oven. 50 Top Pizza ranked Tribute #36 best pizzeria in America (2023-24), while San Diego Magazine crowned it Best Pizza in 2025, 2021, and 2017. True to its name, each pie tributes a specific shop or style: Don of Dough's Signature uses Bellucci's famous vodka sauce, while Detroit-style Square Pepperoni packs 60 Ezzo cup-and-char pepperonis. Happy hour runs until 6pm with $7 margherita and white pies. Lofty ceilings, open kitchen, dog-friendly patio with heat lamps, 16 beer taps, craft cocktails.
